AI consulting for wholesalers and distributors
Wholesale margins are thin and the admin is heavy. Orders come in by email, phone and PDF and get keyed by hand. Pricing lives in a spreadsheet that three people update. Supplier invoices are matched against POs one line at a time. Customer service spends the day answering stock and ETA questions the system already knows.

We build beside the software you already run
We work with wholesalers, importers and distributors to take that repeated work off the sales and operations team. Most of it sits beside the inventory and accounting systems you already run, reading from them and writing back.

Importer as manufacturer
The Australian Consumer Law treats the importer as the manufacturer when the overseas maker has no presence in Australia. An importer then carries the same safety standard, recall and reporting duties as if it had made the product itself. The same definition can reach a business that assembles, processes or packs goods.

Landed cost
Customs duty is worked out on the FOB (free on board) value of the goods. GST is then 10 percent of the customs value plus the duty, the transport and the insurance. Goods with an FOB value of $1,000 or less generally clear without duty or GST, with tobacco and alcohol excepted.
- 03Australian Border Force ↗
Deferred GST
An approved importer defers the GST on taxable imports to its monthly Business Activity Statement rather than paying it at the border. Customs duty is still paid at import. Joining generally requires no outstanding ATO debts or returns, and the BAS then has to be monthly.

Barcodes and EDI
Suppliers to Woolworths, Coles, Metcash and Drakes must carry a GTIN barcode on consumer packs and cartons and an SSCC label on every pallet. Woolworths and Drakes require a GS1 Barcode Check report and all four prefer EDI despatch advices. A label outside these rules can have the order rejected at the distribution centre.

Food and Grocery Code
The Food and Grocery Code of Conduct became mandatory on 1 April 2025. It binds any grocery business earning over $5 billion in the prior financial year, at present ALDI, Coles, Metcash and Woolworths. Every supply agreement with those four has sat under the full code since 1 April 2026, whatever its start date.

Recall notification
A business that starts a recall of an unsafe product must notify the responsible Commonwealth Minister within 2 days. A report is also due within 2 days when a product it sold is linked to a serious injury, illness or death. That second duty applies whether or not the business made the goods.
Questions
Can you work with Unleashed, Cin7 or NetSuite?
Yes. Those and most other inventory and accounting systems in this sector have an API. What we build reads from and writes back to yours, and stays out of the way of it as the system of record.
Our customers order in every format imaginable. Can that be automated?
That is the normal case. Order intake is designed per customer format, tested against your own order history, and anything below a confidence threshold goes to a person to check.
Where do you usually start with a wholesaler?
Order entry and supplier invoice matching, because they consume the most hours and the errors are expensive. Pricing and quoting usually come next. Discovery confirms the order for your business.
How do we start?
Book a 30 minute intro call. We talk through what you want to achieve and what success looks like. Then we scope a discovery period with your sales and operations team and quote it before it starts.
