    Home warranty insurance

    Home warranty cover applies to residential building work above a figure each state sets itself. NSW and Western Australia set it at $20,000, Queensland at $3,300 and South Australia at $12,000. Victoria runs its own scheme. Cover is taken out before a deposit or before work starts.

    Written contracts

    NSW requires a written contract above $20,000 under the Home Building Act 1989, and the owner has five clear business days to cancel after receiving the signed copy. Queensland runs tiers at $3,300 and $20,000. Its own contract guidance sets out no cooling off period.

    Electrical compliance certificates

    Victoria requires a Certificate of Electrical Safety, lodged with Energy Safe Victoria within two days of certification. Queensland uses a Certificate of Test that goes to the customer and stays on the contractor's file for five years.

    Taxable payments report

    A business that provides building and construction services and pays contractors for that work lodges a Taxable Payments Annual Report by 28 August each year. The exemption for businesses where the work is under 10 percent of income does not apply to building and construction.

  5. 05

    ABN and GST

    A payment over $75 excluding GST to a supplier who does not quote an ABN has 47 percent withheld and paid to the ATO. GST registration is required once turnover reaches $75,000. The ABN check sits on the first invoice from every new subcontractor, before it is paid.

No. We build around the job management platform you already run. It stays the system of record. What we remove is the manual work that happens before and after it.

Is this worth it for a business our size?

Sometimes. A ten person trade business where the owner spends fifteen hours a week on quotes and admin usually gets a clear return. A three person business often gets more from a process fix. The intro call is where we tell you which one you are.

Will the quotes sound like us?

Yes. Drafts are built from your own past quotes and pricing, in your template. Nothing goes to a customer without someone in your business approving it.

How long does it take?

Discovery is usually a couple of weeks. A first build for a trade business is typically live within a few weeks after that. We scope and quote each stage before it starts.
